35th NU Congress: President Prabowo Optimistic Indonesia Will Rise Through Corruption Eradication
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed high optimism about Indonesia’s future. He believes that within the next few years, Indonesia will rise to become a strong nation with unstoppable power on the global stage.
The statement was delivered by the President while opening the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Regency, East Java, on Thursday (27/8/2026). According to Prabowo, the main key to realising this revival is the government’s courage in eradicating corruption completely.
The President emphasised that corrupt practices have long been the primary obstacle to national progress. Corruption has caused the nation’s natural wealth and state assets to disappear and be taken abroad by irresponsible parties.
“We must be brave in eradicating corruption because it is corruption that has caused much of our wealth to be lost and taken abroad,” President Prabowo asserted, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.
The current government, he continued, has begun taking strategic steps to close budget leakages. By closing these gaps, it is hoped that the nation’s economic strength and financial resilience will become increasingly solid.
In addition to focusing on law enforcement against corruptors, President Prabowo revealed that the government has undertaken large-scale efficiency measures. From the various savings policies implemented, the government claims to have successfully saved a significant amount of state budget funds.
The funds resulting from these savings will not be left idle, but will be reallocated to people-oriented programmes. The President stressed that the top priority for the use of state money is to assist the most vulnerable groups in society.
“From our savings, we have managed to save hundreds of trillions. That money is what we use to help the poorest and most helpless people as much as possible,” Prabowo added.
With the combination of firm corruption eradication and efficient budget management, President Prabowo is optimistic that Indonesia’s economic structure will become increasingly healthy and capable of supporting the ambition to become a developed country in the near future.
