35th NU Congress Becomes Tense, Banser Supreme Commander Takes Decisive Action
The General Chairman of the GP Ansor Central Leadership, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of Banser, Addin Jaularudin, took decisive action after the atmosphere at the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress became heated within the assembly arena in Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, on Sunday (30/8).
“The Congress is a noble forum and must not be disturbed by destructive movements,” he stated during a joint assembly of Banser, Pagar Nusa, and the Local Committee held near the assembly arena.
In an effort to fulfil his mandate, he emphasised that the Congress process must proceed according to the agenda established by the committee. “I ensure that the entire series of congress agendas will proceed according to the committee’s plan until the closing tomorrow,” added the Security Coordinator for the 35th NU Congress.
He warned that security forces, alongside relevant committees, would take necessary firm action against any parties intentionally disrupting the event to restore order. “This is our highest forum, our noble forum, a forum for us to strengthen our ties to bolster NU in the future,” he said.
Throughout the congress, he intends to optimise all security forces within the organising committee to maintain and strengthen security. “I am taking over the security control of the Congress. Let us protect the dignity of the organisation. On this land we stand, the blood of our founders flows. Do not defile it with destructive actions. Let us together protect our roots,” Addin remarked.
As the Supreme Commander of Banser mandated as the Security Coordinator for the Congress, Addin is committed to ensuring that the ulama, kiai, and representatives from various NU regional and branch levels can conduct the entire process in comfort and solemnity. “Therefore, let there be no further disturbances. Allow our ulama and kiai from various regions to formulate the best path for the organisation and its members,” he concluded.
