A total of 352 students from several primary schools in Batukliang District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are suspected of suffering food poisoning from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The students experienced symptoms including vomiting and dizziness.

According to the Central Lombok MBG Oversight Task Force, the victims have received medical attention. The Chairman of the Central Lombok MBG Task Force, Lalu Firman Wijaya, stated that they are still monitoring the condition of students being treated at several community health centres (Puskesmas).

“The Assistant II has just visited the SPPG location and the health centres, and reported to me that some of the students affected by the MBG poisoning have already returned home,” said Firman on Friday (11/09/2026).

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NTB MBG Programme Task Force, Fathul Gani, stated that the SPPG responsible for distributing the meals to the 352 students is facing potential suspension. The Task Force emphasised that sanctions will be imposed as part of an evaluation process.

“Given the situation, an automatic suspension will be implemented,” said Fathul Gani when met at the NTB Governor’s office.

If the allegations are proven, Fathul noted that the duration of the suspension is awaiting a decision from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He added that a temporary halt is necessary to restore confidence and the psychological well-being of the beneficiaries, ensuring they do not develop trauma regarding consuming MBG meals.

“The duration of the suspension will depend on the BGN’s decision. This serves as an evaluation, especially since this incident resulted in poisoning,” he added.

A total of 352 students from various schools were rushed to the Peringgarata, Mantang, and Aik Darek health centres. They are suspected of being poisoned after consuming the MBG menu distributed by a partner of an SPPG in Lendang Tampel Village, Batukliang District.

“All 352 victims have returned home. An observation period of three hours was conducted, and we will provide further updates later,” he concluded.
