350 Personnel Deployed to Extinguish Fire at Ternate Landfill

Police officers are working to extinguish hotspots at the Takome landfill in Ternate, North Maluku, on Saturday (3/10/2026). The Ternate City Fire Department has deployed four fire engines and one water cannon from the Ternate Police, involving 350 personnel to tackle the fire which has struck around 32 hectares of the landfill area. The firefighting process is currently still ongoing.

Local residents were seen observing the flames consuming piles of waste at the Takome landfill. The large-scale operation continues as authorities struggle to contain the spread of the fire across the site.
