348 Indonesian Hajj Officials Depart for the First Time to Saudi Arabia Today

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Hajj Worship Organising Officials (PPIH) for Saudi Arabia 2026 will be dispatched for the first time today, Friday (17/4/2026). A total of 348 officials will depart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah. Before departure, the PPIH Saudi Arabia attended a briefing at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, East Jakarta, on Thursday night (16/4/2026). “This briefing is to refresh everything after a full month of carrying out the Ramadan fast,” said the Director of Hajj Regular Officer Development at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Chandra Sulistio Reksoprodjo. In addition to Chandra, the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Control at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Harun Al-Rasyid, also provided the briefing. Chandra stated that the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period was quite long, so the Hajj officials need to refresh what was taught during the training. He emphasised that Hajj officials are servants of Allah’s guests in the Holy Land. The officials represent the country. He also reminded the Hajj officials to maintain professional conduct. “While on duty, pilgrims from all countries will see us. We do not want the face of the nation to be tarnished due to violations of regulations by Hajj officials,” he said.
