342 Foreign Nationals Deported from Bali in First Half of 2026 for Rule Violations

During the period from January to June 2026, the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration deported 342 foreign nationals proven to have violated immigration regulations. This administrative action forms part of routine surveillance efforts carried out by all Immigration Offices across Bali. Head of the Regional Office, Felucia Sengky Ratna, stated that the enforcement was conducted by all working units, namely the Ngurah Rai Special Class I Immigration Office, the Denpasar Class I Immigration Office, the Singaraja Class II Immigration Office, the Denpasar Immigration Detention Centre, and the Tabanan and Klungkung Non-TPI Class III Immigration Offices. “Surveillance is carried out through field operations and monitoring of hotspots for foreigner activity, directly conducted by Immigration officers and other stakeholders,” she said on Saturday (4/7/2026). Based on first-semester 2026 data, the majority of violations found included misuse of residence permits and overstaying. Additionally, surveillance also targeted activities impacting public order, violations of customary norms, and involvement in illegal economic activities. Felucia stressed that Indonesia, particularly Bali, is open to tourists and investors. However, every foreigner is required to comply with the applicable laws. “Deportation and blacklisting sanctions are imposed on foreign nationals who violate the rules. This measure is a form of regulatory enforcement to maintain public order,” she said. The success of this enforcement was supported by optimised surveillance through independent operations and coordination within the Foreigner Surveillance Team (Timpora). Inter-agency synergy proved effective in uncovering several significant cases throughout 2026. In March 2026, Immigration successfully uncovered a clandestine narcotics laboratory involving two Russian nationals thanks to cooperation with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Customs. In the same month, officers secured an Interpol fugitive from the United Kingdom at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport via the Red Notice system. Furthermore, in June 2026, Immigration thwarted the departure of an Interpol fugitive from Australia involved in criminal cases in his home country through cooperation with the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the National Police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
