34-Year-Old Man Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances in Denpasar Boarding House

A man named Handoyo was found dead in his boarding house room on Jalan Patih Nambi Utara, Dusun Batu Mekasem, Ubung Kaja Village, Denpasar. The 34-year-old was discovered deceased on Thursday morning (3/7/2026).

When found, Handoyo’s upper body was lying on his back on the mattress, while his lower body was on the floor. His head was facing west and his feet were pointing south. The body was found wearing a white T-shirt and short blue denim trousers.

The Head of Public Relations for the Denpasar Police, First Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, stated that officers immediately went to the location to conduct a crime scene investigation and evacuate the body after receiving a report from the public.

Police are still investigating the cause of Handoyo’s death, which remains a mystery. Based on initial reports, no information was found regarding any signs of violence on the victim’s body.

“The discovery of the body is still under police investigation. The exact cause of the victim’s death is still pending further examination results,” said Adi Saputra Jaya on Friday (3/7/2026).

The boarding house owner, I Wayan Mar Hendra (62), said Handoyo had only been living at the property for about a year. After receiving information from another resident, Mar went to the victim’s room and found Handoyo had passed away. He then contacted the police for further handling.

One of the boarding house residents, Theresia (47), admitted she initially did not know Handoyo had died because she was cooking inside her home. She was later informed by her child that Handoyo’s mobile phone kept ringing but was not being answered.

At around 8.30 a.m. local time, Theresia went to the victim’s room to wake him. However, the victim did not respond despite being called repeatedly.

“When approached, the victim was already in a supine position, his body had turned blue and his hands were stiff. It is suspected the victim had passed away,” Theresia explained in her witness statement to the police.

Theresia then contacted the boarding house owner to report the discovery.

The victim’s friend, Suheri (44), revealed he last met Handoyo on Tuesday (30/6/2026). At that time, Handoyo appeared healthy and never complained of illness, nor did he have any known medical history.

Suheri learned of the tragic news after being contacted by a colleague of the victim at around 9:30 a.m. He then went to the location and confirmed that the victim had indeed died.
