332 graft cases uncovered in Jambi

JAMBI: A total of 332 corruption cases have been uncovered over the past year in Jambi province, with losses to the state reaching Rp 4.5 billion (US$469,000), according to data from the Jambi Development Finance Comptroller.

"The data is alarming. The actual number could be much larger, as many cases of corruption cases may not have been detected by the body," said Achmad Somad, the director of the Human Resources Development Institute in Jambi.

Achmad demanded that the government tighten up supervision and be more transparent in its use of state money so that, in future, the number of corruption cases in the province could be reduced. -- JP
