330 students begin orientation at Nagan Raya's 'Sekolah Rakyat'
The Nagan Raya Regency Government in Aceh has confirmed that 330 students have begun a school environment orientation programme at Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi 1 Nagan Raya, located in the Suka Makmue Office Complex. Bupati Nagan Raya Teuku Raja Keumangan stated that the presence of Sekolah Rakyat is a tangible manifestation of the government’s commitment to delivering social justice through quality education that is accessible free of charge to the community. The current student body for the 2026/2027 academic year comprises 90 primary school students, 90 junior high school students, and 90 senior high school students from Nagan Raya, along with 60 pilot students from South Aceh Regency. The Bupati emphasised that economic limitations should not prevent children from receiving the best education and becoming Indonesia’s golden generation, excelling with competitiveness and noble character. He advised students to use the orientation period to get to know one another, adapt to the new environment, build friendships, and establish closeness with teachers, dormitory supervisors, and caregivers. The government also expressed appreciation to parents for entrusting their children’s education to the programme, assuring that all educational needs, accommodation, meals, character development, and potential enhancement are provided free of charge. R Gandhi Wijaya Cahyo Prajanto, Head of Administration for the Social Welfare Data and Information Centre at the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, noted that the Bupati’s grant of land for the construction of the integrated school is a testament to his love for the children of Nagan Raya. He added that the Sekolah Rakyat programme is a mandate from the President of the Republic of Indonesia to expand access to quality education for children who have previously lacked opportunities.
