33 Palestinians killed in Israeli gunfire in Gaza during Eid al-Adha
Health authorities in the Gaza Strip reported 33 Palestinians killed and over 130 others wounded by Israeli attacks and gunfire during the Eid al-Adha holiday from Wednesday (28 May) to Saturday (31 May). In Sunday’s daily report, the authorities stated that the death toll in Gaza since 7 October 2023 has risen to 72,939, with 172,927 injured. The report indicated that some victims remain trapped under rubble and in the streets, with ambulance and civil defence teams facing significant challenges in reaching them. Meanwhile, Raed Hussein, director of al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, warned of an imminent hospital closure due to severe power shortages and failures in both primary and backup generators. At a press conference at the hospital, he stated that the crisis is already directly affecting vital departments, particularly operating rooms. Separately, a Palestinian man was killed on Sunday by Israeli gunfire at the separation barrier in al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, according to Palestinian sources. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated in a press release that Imad Ishtayeh, 26, from Salem Village east of Nablus, died from his injuries after being shot by Israeli forces near the al-Ram separation barrier. Local sources said Ishtayeh was shot while attempting to cross the separation barrier to work in Israel to support his family.
