321 Foreign Nationals Involved in International Online Gambling Operation Arrested in Hayam Wuruk, Here Are the Details
From the perpetrators we successfully secured, the number reaches 321 people,” said Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra during a press conference at the scene in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5/2026).
Of that total, the breakdown is 57 Chinese or Chinese nationals, 228 Vietnamese nationals, 11 Laotian nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 3 Malaysian nationals, 5 Thai nationals, and 3 Cambodian nationals. The perpetrators were caught red-handed while engaging in online gambling.
“We caught the perpetrators red-handed, meaning they were in the midst of operational activities or engaging in online gambling,” he said.
In this enforcement action, the police discovered structured online gambling activities utilising cross-border electronic facilities and operated digitally. Various pieces of evidence were also secured, including safes, passports, mobile phones, laptops, desktop computers, and cash in various currencies.
“We have conducted in-depth investigations into individuals suspected of carrying out activities with various roles in online gambling operations as a means of livelihood. This was done in a structured manner, utilising electronic facilities and digital operational patterns across borders in an organised fashion,” he stated.
Examination results show there were approximately 75 domains and websites used as online gambling platforms. The perpetrators used combinations of specific characters and labels to avoid blocking.
“For the individuals we secured, we suspect them under Article 426 and/or Article 607 in conjunction with Article 20 and/or Article 21 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code and Law Number 1 of 2026 on Penal Adjustments,” he said.
