Because we must link the roles that are still under investigation,” said the Director of General Criminal Acts at Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Pol Wira Satya Triputra, during a press conference on Saturday (9/5/2026). “In other words, the perpetrators were conducting operations or activities related to online gambling,” Wira added. The hundreds of foreign nationals secured hail from various countries, namely 228 Vietnamese nationals, 57 Chinese nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 11 Laotian nationals, five Thai nationals, as well as three Malaysian and three Cambodian nationals each. Wira stated that the uncovering of this case resulted from a lengthy investigation after police received information from the public regarding organised online gambling activities involving an international network.
