321 Foreign Nationals Arrested for Operating Online Gambling Network, 275 Designated as Suspects

Jakarta - As many as 321 foreign nationals were caught red-handed operating an online gambling network in a building in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta. Of the total 321 people apprehended, 275 have been designated as suspects. The remainder are still undergoing further examination to clarify their respective roles. “For now, we have designated 275. The rest require further investigation. Because we must link the roles that are still under investigation,” said the Director of General Criminal Acts at Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Pol Wira Satya Triputra, during a press conference on Saturday (9/5/2026). “In other words, the perpetrators were conducting operations or activities related to online gambling,” Wira added. The hundreds of foreign nationals secured hail from various countries, namely 228 Vietnamese nationals, 57 Chinese nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 11 Laotian nationals, five Thai nationals, as well as three Malaysian and three Cambodian nationals each. Wira stated that the uncovering of this case resulted from a lengthy investigation after police received information from the public regarding organised online gambling activities involving an international network. Investigators also discovered around 75 domains and websites allegedly used to conduct online gambling practices. These domains are said to use combinations of characters and specific name variations to avoid blocking. “In addition, we will also trace the sponsors who brought them in from abroad,” he said.
