320 Foreign Nationals Caught in Online Gambling Case at Hayam Wuruk Plaza Tower; Here Are Their Roles

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has disclosed preliminary findings regarding the roles of 320 foreign nationals involved in an international online gambling case at Hayam Wuruk Plaza Tower in Jakarta. The perpetrators’ roles range from telemarketing to ‘collection agents’.

“There are various roles. Some are in telemarketing (direct marketing, ed.), customer service (customer service workers, ed.), there are also those in administration, including collectors,” said the Director of General Criminal Acts at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General of Police Wira Satya Triputra, in Jakarta on Sunday (10/5/2026).

Nevertheless, Wira stated that Polri will continue to deepen and expand the investigation into the roles of these 320 foreign nationals (WNA). “We will continue to deepen and develop this case. So, it won’t stop here,” he said.

Previously, on Saturday (9/5), Polri arrested 321 people related to the crime of online gambling (judol) in an international network.

Then, on Sunday, Polri announced that 320 of those involved in online gambling are foreign nationals (WNA) and their detention has been handed over to the Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas).

The 320 arrested WNA consist of 228 Vietnamese, 57 Chinese, 13 Myanmar nationals, 11 Laotians, 5 Thais, 3 Malaysians, and 3 Cambodians. Meanwhile, one other individual is an Indonesian national and is being further processed at Polri’s Criminal Investigation Agency.

Tracing fund flows

According to Wira, the police are also coordinating with related agencies to trace both the fund flows and the perpetrators’ sponsors. This includes identifying who rented Hayam Wuruk Plaza Tower and became the sponsor or provider of facilities and infrastructure for these 321 individuals.

In addition, he said the police will analyse computers related to the judol case at Hayam Wuruk. “We are also still analysing computers and so on, as well as other devices (devices, ed.),” he said.
