32 teams to take part in BNI Cup

JAKARTA: Thirty-two teams from state enterprises, government offices and private firms confirmed on Thursday they would take part in the two-day tennis BNI Cup starting on Saturday.

The tournament, which will provide a total of Rp 43 million (US$4,500) in cash prizes, will be a team competition. Each match will consist of one singles and two doubles matches.

The participating teams will be divided into eight groups of four, with the winners of each group advancing to the quarterfinals.

During a press conference here on Thursday, tournament director Ayi Sutrisno said he expected a tough competition given that teams were free to field national players.

Among the national players who will take part in the event are Sebastian Da Costa and Ferdi Fauzi, who will represent the Ministry of Religious Affairs. --JP
