32 Houses Damaged by Ground Movement in Lebak, Residents Call for Relocation
Thirty-two houses were damaged by ground movement in Kampung Cinangga, Bayah Timur, Lebak Regency. Residents are calling for relocation to a safer site. Village head Rafik Rahmat Taufik said seven houses have been abandoned by their owners, while most residents remain despite the damage to their homes. ‘Our hope is that the government—district, provincial, and central—seriously looks at the condition of our village. The only solution here is relocation,’ Rafik said on Friday, 6 March 2026. Meanwhile, Lutfi Mujahidin, Head of Operations of the Banten Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), visited the affected site on Friday, 6 March. He inspected the houses that had begun to crack due to ground movement. Lutfi said Kampung Cinangga falls in the yellow zone. Based on geological research, the area is prone to cracking from light to heavy scales. ‘In Bayah Timur this area is actually in yellow or moderate risk. But even moderate, there is still a potential danger. This is certainly something we must pay attention to,’ he said. According to Lutfi, the government will look for long-term solutions to address the problem so that people can live safely and with peace of mind. ‘Everything, including the local government, is thinking ahead so that people’s lives are not disrupted by anxiety and constant worry. Of course, those efforts must be led by the local government,’ he added.
