31 Couples Join Mass Wedding, Lampung Governor Stresses Religious Values
A total of 31 prospective couples took part in the Begawi Cinta Lampung 2026 mass wedding, themed ‘Together Presenting Lawful and Dignified Marriage’. Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal also served as a witness at the first session of the marriage solemnisation ceremony.
In his address, Mirza explained that the mass wedding programme was born of the government’s desire to make it easier for people to marry officially. Marriage not only provides legal certainty, but also forms the foundation for strong families and a better society.
“The government has a duty to deliver services that make things easier for the public, one of which is simplifying the marriage process. With a lawful marriage, the public will enjoy many benefits,” Mirza said in a written statement on Sunday (26/7/2026).
To the 31 couples, Mirza stressed that building a household should rest not only on material sufficiency, but also on religious values, communication and mutual understanding.
Mirza advised the husbands not merely to fulfil their obligation to provide material sustenance, but also to equip their families with religious values.
“It is not a luxurious house, abundant wealth or vehicles that make a household happy. What matters more is a living faith within the family. Besides earning a living, husbands must also seek religious knowledge and impart it to their wives and families,” he said.
He also reminded those present that every family inevitably faces problems. According to him, what distinguishes a harmonious family from others is how husband and wife resolve their problems through dialogue.
“A good household is not one that never faces problems. Every family certainly has challenges. What makes the difference is how husband and wife choose to resolve them. Make it a habit to engage in dialogue over every issue,” he explained.
He expressed hope that all couples joining the mass wedding could build families that are sakinah, mawaddah and warahmah — harmonious, loving and merciful — and raise a righteous generation capable of contributing to the development of Lampung Province.
Mirza also expressed appreciation to all parties who supported the programme. The Begawi Cinta Lampung mass wedding, he continued, deserves to serve as an example for other mosques across Lampung Province in providing similar services to the community.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Al-Bakrie Grand Mosque Management Board in Lampung, KH. Basyaruddin Maisir, said Begawi Cinta Lampung was not merely a ceremonial event, but the beginning of a sustained movement to build harmonious, prosperous families.
According to him, the programme will be followed up with various services, such as marriage validation hearings, pre-marriage classes, harmonious family development programmes and family counselling services.
“We hope this programme not only brings about lawful marriages, but also produces resilient, harmonious families that become pillars of community development,” he said.
The Head of the Lampung Provincial Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zulkarnain, likewise applauded the synergy between the Lampung Provincial Government and the Al-Bakrie Grand Mosque in providing free mass wedding services to the public.
He advised all the couples not to seek perfection in their partners, but rather to complement one another’s shortcomings.
“No human being is perfect except the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Therefore, husband and wife must accept and complement one another in building a family,” he said.
The event, a collaboration between the Lampung Provincial Government, the Al-Bakrie Grand Mosque, the Lampung Provincial Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Bakrie Amanah Foundation and a number of partners, aims to make it easier for people to obtain lawful marriage services whilst strengthening family resilience.
