31 Couples Join Mass Wedding, Lampung Governor Stresses Religious Values

A total of 31 prospective couples participated in the Begawi Cinta Lampung 2026 mass wedding, themed ‘Together Presenting Legal and Dignified Marriages’. Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal acted as a witness during the first session of the marriage contract procession. In his remarks, Mirza explained that the mass wedding programme was born from the government’s desire to make it easier for the public to formalise their marriages. He noted that marriage not only provides legal certainty but also serves as the foundation for building strong families and a better society. ‘The government has a duty to provide services that make things easier for the community, one of which is simplifying the marriage process. With a legal marriage, many benefits will be felt by the community,’ Mirza said in a written statement on Sunday. Addressing the 31 couples, Mirza stressed that building a household does not rely solely on material sufficiency, but also on religious values, communication, and mutual understanding. He advised husbands not only to fulfil their obligation to provide material support but also to equip their families with religious values. ‘It is not the luxury of a house, the abundance of wealth, or vehicles that make a household happy. What is more important is that religion lives within the family. Besides earning a living, husbands must also seek religious knowledge and impart it to their wives and families,’ he said. He also reminded the couples that every family will face challenges. According to him, what distinguishes a harmonious family from others is how the husband and wife choose to resolve problems through dialogue. ‘A good household is not one that never faces problems. Every family has challenges. What makes the difference is how the husband and wife choose to solve them. Make it a habit to talk through every issue,’ he explained. He expressed hope that all couples participating in the mass wedding would build families that are sakinah, mawaddah, warahmah and raise pious generations capable of contributing to the development of Lampung Province. Mirza also appreciated all parties who supported the implementation of the programme. He added that the Begawi Cinta Lampung mass wedding could serve as a model for other mosques in Lampung Province to provide similar services to the community. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Al-Bakrie Grand Mosque Board in Lampung, KH. Basyaruddin Maisir, stated that Begawi Cinta Lampung is not merely a ceremonial activity but the beginning of a sustainable movement to build sakinah families. He said the programme would be followed by various services, including marriage legalisation hearings, pre-marital classes, family resilience coaching, and family counselling services. ‘We hope this programme not only facilitates legal marriages but also produces strong, harmonious families that become pillars of community development,’ he said. The Head of the Lampung Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zulkarnain, also praised the synergy between the Lampung Provincial Government and the Al-Bakrie Grand Mosque in providing free mass marriage services to the community. He advised all couples not to seek perfection in their partners but to complement each other’s shortcomings. ‘No human is perfect except the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Therefore, husband and wife must accept and complement each other in building a family,’ he said.
