The Central Java Provincial Government has established a Work From Home (WFH) policy every Friday starting from 10 April. A total of 31,000 out of 33,000 employees, including Civil Servants (ASN) and PPPK, will implement this policy.

The Head of the Central Java Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), Raden Rara Utami Rahajeng, stated that this policy is applied as an effort to save energy. “Starting this Friday (10/4), 31,000 out of 33,000 employees in the Central Java Provincial Government will carry out WFH,” she said on Monday (6/4).

Nevertheless, employees in certain sectors are still required to work from the office. These sectors include health services such as hospitals, clinics, and community health centres, as well as the energy sector including fuel, gas, and electricity.

Utami emphasised that employees implementing WFH are still required to meet attendance requirements (attendance) as usual. “Employees who violate this will be given strict sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations,” she said.

To support the implementation of WFH, BKD has prepared an application integrated with the system of the Communication, Informatics, and Digital Service. “There are several sectors that will continue to work as usual, especially in the fields of services and the economy,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Central Java Provincial Government, Sumarno, acknowledged that implementing WFH in the local government environment has its own challenges. This is related to the complexity of tasks that cover various public service sectors.

“If ministries or agencies only handle one matter, we in the Central Java Provincial Government handle work from birth to death, so it must be prepared thoroughly,” said Sumarno.
