30,000 bottles of alcohol destroyed

TANGERANG: The Tangerang Metro Police destroyed 30,000 bottles
of locally made alcohol in front of its headquarters on Jl. Daan
Mogot over the weekend.

The alcohol was confiscated from unlicensed premises.

Present among the officers were Tangerang Police chief Comr.
Harry Prastowo, Regent Agus Djunara, prosecutor and district
court officials.

"We are destroying these bottles of alcohol in order to reduce
crime in Tangerang," Prastowo told journalists.

He said the alcohol was confiscated in several raids on
premises selling alcohol without a license in several districts
of Tangerang such as Mauk, Teluk Naga, Jatiuwung, Pasar Kemis and
Tangerang downtown over the past few weeks.

The bottles of alcohol were laid on the ground in front of the
police headquarters and a bulldozer was used to destroy them.--JP
