3,000 apply for building permits

JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta Mayor H. Pardjoko revealed that a total of 3,034 people applied for building permits in his area last year.

He said the mayoralty received more than Rp 1 billion from the applications.

Pardjoko said the revenue could have been more than the amount received if all the people in South Jakarta who had built houses had obtained building permits issued by his office, Antara reported .

"There were many people last year who built houses without building permits. This prompted my office to issue an instruction on the cessation of construction of buildings," he said.

Pardjoko said under the instruction, his office managed to cease the construction of 1,203 buildings. (bas)
