300 Perkasa buses to hit streets

JAKARTA (JP): As many as 300 brand new buses made by local producer PT Perkasa Texmaco will likely be seen plying the city's streets in December.

The chairman of the city chapter of the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda), Aip Syaifuddin, said on Friday that four bus companies, members of Organda, had earlier signed purchase contracts for the 300 buses with PT Texmaco.

He said the four bus companies, Bianglala, Kopaja, Giri Indah and Agung Bhakti, received loans from state-owned Bank Mandiri for the purchase of the buses, each priced at Rp 300 million (US$30,000).

He said the purchasing of the buses was part of the city's bus rejuvenation program.

Earlier this month, PT Texmaco launched Perkasa buses in a ceremony here. (jun)
