PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has recorded the ongoing return flow of Eid al-Fitr traffic towards the Jabotabek region, with volumes already exceeding millions of vehicles. By H+4 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, the number of returning vehicles reached 2.16 million units. Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that this figure covers only about two-thirds of this year’s total projected return flow, adding that vehicle mobility will continue over the coming days as the long holiday period ends. “The 2.1 million vehicles returning to the Jabotabek region represent 63.79% of the total projected 3.39 million vehicles expected to return during the 11-31 March 2026 period,” Rivan said on Thursday (26/3/2026). The distribution of vehicles returning to Jabotabek is dominated by flows from the east, both via the Trans-Java route and Bandung. Meanwhile, contributions from the west via Merak and from the south via the Puncak area remain significant, though not as large as from the east. A sharp surge in traffic was observed, particularly at the peak of the return flow. On H+4 of Eid, or 25 March 2026, the volume of vehicles entering Jabotabek jumped well above normal daily conditions. The traffic volume returning to the Jabotabek region on H+4 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026, or Wednesday 25 March 2026, reached 206,243 vehicles, an increase of 55.8% from the normal 132,342 vehicles. The most striking increase occurred at the Cikampek Main Toll Gate, the main route from the Trans-Java direction. At this point, the number of passing vehicles surged nearly three times compared to normal conditions. The highest increase in vehicle numbers was recorded at the Cikampek Main GT, with 75,837 vehicles, up 194.3% from normal traffic. Amid the high return flow, Jasa Marga is again implementing a strategy to ease congestion by offering tariff incentives. A 30% toll discount is being applied again on several main routes to encourage more even traffic distribution. “We remind the public to take advantage of the 30% toll discount programme on nine strategic routes of the Jasa Marga Group. The programme takes effect again today on 26 March 2026 until 27 March 2026 with a continuous journey scheme, expected to promote more even traffic distribution,” Rivan said. In addition, the company is reminding of the operational restrictions on goods vehicles during the Eid homecoming and return period as set by the government. This policy aims to maintain the smooth flow of private vehicles on toll roads.
