30 Per Cent Toll Tariff Discount to Begin Nine Days Before Eid 2026, Encouraging Earlier Travel
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has confirmed that a 30 per cent toll tariff discount will come into effect from nine days before Eid in 2026.
The policy is one of the government’s efforts to reduce congestion during the homecoming period as people return to their hometowns for the Eid celebration.
“Nine or eight days before Eid, if I recall correctly,” Dody said when met in Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday (1 March 2026).
“All toll routes. Similar to last year, except last year it was 20 per cent and now it is 30 per cent,” he explained.
The government hopes the toll discount will encourage the public to undertake their homecoming journey earlier, so that traffic congestion does not accumulate during peak travel periods or the return journey.
“With this approach, we hope travellers can head home earlier, and likewise return earlier,” Dody said.
The toll tariff discount is part of the government’s first-quarter 2026 economic stimulus package announced previously. The total budget allocated reaches Rp12.83 trillion and covers various measures.
This stimulus policy will apply throughout the February–March 2026 period, and is expected to have a significant impact on population movement whilst maintaining purchasing power ahead of Eid.
