30 Indonesian Heroes Receive Decent Housing, BTN Reaffirms Support for Cahaya Programme
PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is supporting the Rumah Cahaya programme initiated by the Yayasan Pahlawan Harapan Sejahtera Indonesia Emas (PHSI). This was demonstrated through the handover of 30 habitable housing units, complete with freehold certificates (SHM), to Indonesian heroes and the families of heroes.
BTN President Director Nixon L.P. Napitupoll stated that BTN feels honoured to be part of the Rumah Cahaya programme. He noted that attention to housing should not only focus on helping the general public acquire homes but also include providing decent housing for vulnerable groups in need.
“For us, what is being done today is more than just the handover of houses. This is a form of respect to those who have given so much to Indonesia in the past. Today, we want to say that their services were not in vain and will never be forgotten,” Nixon said in a statement.
Nixon added that the handover of the freehold certificates is a vital part of the programme, as it ensures the houses received truly belong to the recipients and can serve as assets for their families.
“What we are handing over today is not just house keys, but also the certificates of ownership. This means the houses truly belong to these individuals, providing a place to return to, to gather with family, and hopefully, to be passed down to future generations,” he said.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PHSI Foundation and Chairman of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, stated that providing decent housing is a crucial element in improving public welfare. He noted that many Indonesians still lack adequate housing, including the heroes who have served the nation.
“Indonesia has been independent for 81 years, yet some of our people are not yet happy because they do not have decent homes. Therefore, we want to assist those who lack habitable housing, including the heroes who have served this nation,” Hashim remarked during the handover of 30 freehold certificates for Rumah Cahaya houses to forgotten heroes in Jakarta.
The Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, expressed appreciation for the Rumah Cahaya initiative, viewing it as a concrete example of collaboration between the Government, the business sector, and the community in supporting the provision of decent housing. He noted that the Government cannot work alone in resolving Indonesia’s housing issues.
