The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), through the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Ditjen GTK), has officially launched a programme to collect data on specific teachers who do not yet hold educator certificates by 2026. This step is intended to expedite the completion of the Professional Teacher Education (PPG) programme.

The programme targets teachers who meet the requirements but have not yet participated in the certification process. The government assesses that there are still a number of active teachers who should be the focus of PPG but have not registered up to the administrative selection stage by 2025.

Director General of GTK, Nunuk Suryani, stated that this data collection is a strategic step in improving the professionalism and quality of educators in Indonesia.

“Through this data collection, we want to ensure that all specific teachers who have been teaching up to the 2023/2024 year are truly identified and facilitated to participate in the PPG programme,” said Nunuk in Jakarta.

She emphasised that the success of completing this programme will be an important turning point in the national education system. According to her, if all teachers in position are certified, future PPG will focus on preparing prospective teachers before entering the workforce.

“This is a strategic step to ensure that in the future, every teacher present in the classroom has been fully prepared through a structured and sustainable system,” she said.

The programme targets teachers who have a minimum academic qualification of S1 or D4, are actively teaching in the 2023/2024 academic year, and do not yet hold an educator certificate.

Teachers in this category are urged to promptly confirm their participation through the SIMPKB application or the Info GTK website. The confirmation deadline is set until 30 April 2026.

In its mechanism, teachers will receive notifications through their respective Info GTK accounts. Subsequently, they are required to update, verify, and validate their diploma data, while confirming participation in the PPG programme via SIMPKB.

The available confirmation options include being interested in participating in PPG, not interested, currently participating in PPG, or already holding an educator certificate. Teachers who express interest can proceed with the administrative selection registration process through the same system.
