30,000 visitors flock to Kota Tua during Lunar New Year holiday

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 30,545 people visited the Kota Tua tourist area in Tamansari, West Jakarta, during the Lunar New Year holiday on 16-17 February 2026.

Based on visitor data received in Jakarta on Wednesday, some 14,428 tourists visited Kota Tua on Monday (16/2), comprising 14,224 domestic tourists and 204 foreign visitors.

On Tuesday (17/2), a further 16,117 tourists visited the heritage site, consisting of 15,891 domestic tourists and 226 foreign visitors.

The Lunar New Year celebrations at Kota Tua were enlivened by the Jakarta Light Festival.

The event, themed "Chinese New Year Edition", was held at Taman Fatahillah — more widely known as the Museum Fatahillah area — on 16-17 February 2026, running from 4pm to 10pm Western Indonesian Time.

"The video mapping show was staged at 7.15pm," said Head of the Kota Tua Jakarta Management Unit (UPK), Denny Aputra, when contacted in Jakarta on Monday (16/2).

In addition to the video mapping display, which served as the main attraction, the Jakarta Light Festival also featured a range of other entertainment including lion dances, traditional performances, and live music by bands Hijau Daun and Mata Band.

The Lunar New Year edition of the Jakarta Light Festival ran for two days on Monday and Tuesday.
