30,000 Kopdes Merah Putih Managers to Be Deployed in Early August 2026
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono has confirmed that around 30,000 prospective managers for the Kopdes Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperatives) will be deployed in the first week of August 2026, following a series of competency training programmes. Ferry stated that the candidates will undergo training from 17 to 31 July 2026, after completing character building and state defence orientation. “I have just received information that of the 30,000 participants, 60 per cent are women. Training and the closing ceremony will take place from the 17th to the 31st. In the first week of August, we will begin placing them in villages and sub-districts,” Ferry said on Friday, 17 July 2026. He added that the government is targeting the completion of approximately 35,000 Kopdes Merah Putih buildings, including warehouses, retail outlets, and other supporting facilities, by August. Ferry explained that the formation of cooperative managers is carried out through three stages: character building, enhancement of managerial competence, and competency certification. This scheme is implemented to ensure that cooperative managers meet the same professional standards across Indonesia. Deputy for Talent Development and Cooperative Competitiveness, Destry Anna Sari, stated that the placement of prospective managers will prioritise participants who originate from the villages where they will serve. If the needs of a particular village have not been met, placement will be carried out gradually from the sub-district, district, to provincial levels. “If they come from that village, they will be placed there. But if not, the rotation will go from village, sub-district, district, to province,” Destry said. According to her, this mechanism is designed to make the management of Kopdes Merah Putih more effective by considering the prospective managers’ familiarity with the social conditions and economic potential of their assigned areas.
