3 Regions with the Highest ODOL Violations During ETLE Trial
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, has begun a limited trial of enforcing laws on vehicles exceeding dimensions and loads using Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) equipment.
During the trial period that started in January 2026, tens of thousands of vehicles have been detected violating regulations, classified as Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL).
Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan stated that through ETLE enforcement, up to 11 May 2026, there were 98,983 violations by goods transport vehicles.
“South Sumatra Province has the highest number of violations at 71,402 or 73%, second place is West Java with 10,347 or 11%, and third place is the Jabodetabek region with 6,199 or 6%. The rest are from various other regions,” Aan said in his official statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
From that total, Aan said the violations were dominated by load capacity issues at 55,462 or 57%, documentation violations at 42,427 or 43%, and loading procedure violations at 94 cases.
Vehicles detected violating through ETLE will face enforcement actions. According to Aan, his side has printed and sent letters as follow-up to the law enforcement.
“It is hoped that with this system, it can facilitate all parties in handling goods transport vehicles that do not comply with regulations,” Aan said.
