3-Meter Python Found Under Freezer at Bogor Grocery Store, Fire Department Evacuates

Bogor - A python measuring approximately 3 meters appeared under a freezer inside a grocery store in Ciawi, Bogor, West Java. Residents called the fire department (damkar) for assistance.

“The type of rescue was an emergency evacuation of a reticulated python (Python reticulatus),” said Bogor Regency Fire Department Chief Yudi Santosa on Sunday (2/15/2026).

Yudi said the snake’s presence was reported by a store employee. The employee sought help from neighbors and reported the incident to the fire department.

“While cleaning up, a store employee discovered a very large snake under the ice cream freezer. Feeling scared, the employee then asked a neighbor for help to contact the fire department,” Yudi said.

Subsequently, according to Yudi, four rescue and firefighting personnel were deployed to the location for the evacuation process. The 3-meter python was successfully evacuated in approximately 15 minutes and taken to the Cibinong Fire Department headquarters.

“The snake was successfully evacuated by the team. The evacuation was completed in 15 minutes without any issues,” Yudi said.
