3 kg LPG Prices Triple, Residents Rely on Market Operations

Residents queued to purchase 3 kg LPG cylinders during a market operation in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Thursday (2/7/2026). The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) office for Southeast Sulawesi recorded an annual inflation rate (year-on-year) of 4.68 percent in June 2026. One of the contributing factors was the household fuel commodity, specifically LPG, which accounted for 0.34 percent of the inflation due to the scarcity of 3 kg LPG cylinders throughout June 2026, causing prices to rise by two to three times. The shortage has caused prices at the retail level to skyrocket, adding to the expenditure burden on residents for their daily needs.
