3 kg cannabis deal at Tanah Abang hotel foiled as two men arrested

Jakarta, VIVA - The distribution of cannabis weighing 3 kilograms was thwarted by the Metro Jaya Police’s Drug Investigation Directorate. Two men identified as B (53) and T (49) were detained during the operation, according to Ajun Komisaris Polisi Edy Lestari, head of Unit 5 Subdirectorate 3 of Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, quoted on Saturday, 7 March 2026. He detailed that the seizure occurred on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, around 17:30 WIB at Mustika Hotel, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. “The operation began from a community report about suspected narcotics transactions in the vicinity. Afterwards, investigators moved quickly and detained the two suspects inside a hotel room,” Edy said. From the search, three large packages and one small package containing cannabis with gross weight 3,042 grams were found. Edy urged the public to stay away from drugs as they are dangerous and harmful to the nation’s successors. “Currently, the two suspects along with exhibits have been secured at Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya for further examination,” Edy said. Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner of Police Budi Hermanto, said combating drugs is a shared responsibility. “Even the smallest information from the public is useful to the police, starting from the closest environment and surroundings to contribute,” Budi said.
