3 Indonesians nabbed for drugs
HONG KONG (AFP): Three Indonesians were arrested at Hong
Kong's international airport after trying to smuggle the designer
drug "ice" and cocaine out of the territory, a customs and excise
spokesman said on Wednesday.
The trio, aged between 24 and 38, were held at Chep Lap Kok
airport on Tuesday, after four kilograms of methamphetamine
hydrochloride, commonly known as "ice", and 15 grams of cocaine
were discovered wrapped around their bodies, he said.
The drugs had an estimated market value of HK$1.8 million
(US$231,065).
One of the arrested Indonesians, who were all heading for
Jakarta, was believed to be the mastermind behind the case, he
added.
Some 34 kilograms of ice has been seized by authorities in the
first five months of 2001.
