3 activists have gone missing: ASOUM

SURABAYA: Following the alleged beating by police of Muslim cleric Muhammad Saifuddin, the Alliance for Muslim Community (ASOUM) filed a report with police on Friday that three Muslim activists had gone missing.

The three activists, from the Surabaya Mujahiddin Council, were Suhandi, Ismail and Chandra.

Yusuf Zulkarnaen, the spokesman of the ASOUM, claimed that the three activists went missing a month ago after they were picked up by what appeared to be plain-clothes police officers.

Responding to the group's report, spokesman of East Java Police Sr. Comr. Endro Wardoyo said that the police were investigating the case. -- JP
