3.6 Million Vehicles Expected to Traverse Toll Roads During Eid Holiday Travel 2026, Jasa Marga
Jakarta — The celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, coinciding with the third week of March 2026, is expected to prompt approximately 144 million Indonesians to undertake the annual homecoming journey, or mudik lebaran.
Rivan A. Purwantono, Chief Executive of PT Jasa Marga Tbk (JSMR), confirmed that the state-owned toll road operator has developed comprehensive strategies and preparations to optimise toll road operations and ensure smooth traffic flow during both the outbound and return journeys in 2026.
Jasa Marga has conducted extensive studies and strengthened its response strategies six months in advance of the holiday period. Key measures include expanding the network of surveillance cameras equipped with intelligent traffic analysis (ITA) technology.
The company projects approximately 3.6 million vehicles will traverse all Jasa Marga toll road segments during the Eid travel period, representing a 1.4% increase compared to 2025. Traffic distribution is expected to be 50% towards Trans Java routes, 28% towards Merak, and 20% towards Bogor.
In addition to these measures, Jasa Marga is collaborating with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), and other relevant stakeholders to anticipate extreme weather conditions. The operator has deployed 490 patrol, security, and towing vehicles to support operations during the holiday period.
