JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts that 3.5 million vehicles will leave Jakarta during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period in 2026. Jasa Marga’s President Director, Rivan Achmad Purwantono, stated that the outbound flow will occur in waves on 14 March 2026 and 18 March 2026. On those days, the Daily Traffic Volume (LHR) is estimated to reach 256,000 vehicles, significantly higher than the 221,000 vehicles on the night of Tuesday (17/3/2026). This figure is already the highest since 13 March 2026. “And the distribution of the homecoming flow is mostly 50 percent towards the east, namely towards Trans-Java,” he said. To anticipate congestion at several points, the company is preparing functional toll road sections that will be operationalised. One of them is the 50 km Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II toll road section connecting Sadang to Setu (Burangkeng). Other functional sections include the Yogyakarta-Solo toll, now extended to Purwomartani Kalasan for about 11.48 km. Previously, the toll section only operated up to Prambanan. “This will greatly help the public who are going home for Eid and can also be used for the return flow. Because when exiting Prambanan, there is still a crossing around Prambanan, and this will help alleviate density from Solo to Jogja,” Rivan explained. Finally, the Probolinggo-Besuki toll section is ready to be functionalised in both directions. This toll section significantly shortens the journey from Pasuruan-Probolinggo to Gending-Situbondo over 50 km. “This is already ready, including the functional rest area we have prepared at Bukit Ujung Paiton, which currently also sees significant traffic of nearly 25,000 vehicles. And this affects the rest areas that the local community usually uses as resting spots,” Rivan emphasised.
