3.5 Million Vehicles Predicted to Leave Greater Jakarta During Eid Holiday
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk projects that approximately 3.53 million vehicles will traverse the Greater Jakarta exit gates through four main tollgates—Cikampek Utama, Kalihurip Utama, Ciawi, and Cikupa—during the period from H-10 to H+10 of the Eid holiday in 2026, spanning 21 days.
To anticipate the increased traffic, Jasa Marga has prepared several operational strategies for the 2026 Eid holiday service, which include deploying functional lanes, strengthening operational service fleets, optimising traffic monitoring technology, improving tollway infrastructure readiness, and enhancing rest area services, according to Jasa Marga Managing Director Rivan A Purwantono in a statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday (14 March).
Rivan explained that vehicle flow projections during Eid were developed based on historical data analysis and monitoring conducted through the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Centre (JMTC). This control centre uses visual monitoring technology and leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse traffic movement patterns over time. This information serves as the foundation for Jasa Marga to implement traffic management in a more responsive and effective manner.
As part of efforts to manage vehicle distribution, Jasa Marga has prepared four functional lanes across various toll sections. Supporting the Eid holiday operations, various tollway service fleets have been deployed.
The smooth operation during Eid is also supported by coordination with the police, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Works, local governments, and other toll road operators.
Jasa Marga urges the public to ensure their vehicles and driver conditions are optimal, to comply with traffic regulations, and to follow officer directions so that the 2026 Eid holiday journey runs safely and comfortably.
Meanwhile, the East Java Transportation Department predicts that 24.9 million people will travel to East Java during the upcoming Eid holiday period. The management of Juanda International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, has begun mapping passenger movements ahead of the Eid travel season. Flexible work arrangements will be applied during the Eid travel period from 13 March to 29 March 2026 to reduce traffic congestion during peak travel times. The Chair of Commission V of the House of Representatives emphasised the importance of infrastructure readiness ahead of the Eid travel period, particularly in Central Java, which serves as a major national transit route.
