3.5 Million Vehicles Expected to Travel Through Tangerang-Merak Toll Road During Eid Exodus
PT Marga Mandalasakti (MMS), which manages the Tangerang-Merak toll road, is projecting 3.5 million vehicles will pass through this stretch during the Eid exodus period of 2026/Hijri year 1447.
Uswatun Hasanah, Head of CSR and Public Relations Department for Astra Toll Tangerang-Merak at PT MMS, stated that the 3.5 million vehicles departing from the Jabodetabek region bound for Sumatra represent an increase compared to the same period last year, which reached 3.4 million vehicles.
“We predict around 3.5 million vehicles will pass through the Tangerang-Merak toll road,” Uswatun said in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
The trend in traffic volume is predicted to increase by between 2.5 and 2.8 per cent. “This represents approximately 2.5 to 2.8 per cent higher traffic volume compared to the overall traffic volume for 2025,” she explained.
The peak of the Eid exodus, particularly on the toll route, is expected to occur on 18-19 March 2026, during which vehicle traffic will experience significant increases.
Based on daily data from 10 days before Eid (11-16 March), a total of 248,575 vehicles entered the Tangerang-Merak toll stretch. With daily traffic of 52,432 vehicles, this represents a 4.92 per cent decrease compared to the same period in 2025, but a 4.36 per cent increase over normal daily average traffic.
For traffic exiting through the Merak toll gate towards Merak Port and surrounding areas during 11-16 March 2026, 66,016 vehicles were recorded. On Monday, 16 March, traffic volume reached 13,717 vehicles, a 19.41 per cent decrease compared to the same period in 2025, though this represents a 57.29 per cent increase compared to normal daily average traffic.
