The West Jakarta Sub-Department of Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy (Sudin Nakertransgi) has provided 3,450 job vacancies as part of the second wave of the 2026 Job Fair, held at the Cengkareng Youth Centre, Jalan Utama Raya No 22.

The Head of West Jakarta Sudin Nakertransgi, Faradisa Saforda Basuni, stated that the online series of job fair activities took place from 11 to 24 September 2026, involving 48 companies. The offline event was held over two days, 22 and 23 September 2026, featuring 48 companies offering 3,450 job vacancies across 236 positions, Faradisa said during a visit to the site on Tuesday.

She added that the job fair series will continue with walk-in interview sessions on 24 September 2026, starting from 09:00 WIB. These direct interview sessions will be held at the Palmerah, Tambora, and Kembangan District Offices, as well as the Kapuk Sub-district Office. “Please join us all for the walk-in interviews,” Faradisa encouraged.

Meanwhile, a member of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission B, Nur Afni Sajim, welcomed the implementation of the job fair as a strategic step to curb unemployment in the capital, especially for recent graduates. “This activity is vital for reducing unemployment in Jakarta, particularly for those who have just finished school. It is very important to help them find employment opportunities,” she remarked.

According to Nur Afni, ideally, job fairs should be organised three times a month or several times a year to provide broader opportunities. However, budget adjustments have affected the frequency of implementation. “Effectively, this job fair should happen three times a year. But due to budget adjustments, it may only occur twice this year, though I will strive to return it to three times in the future,” Nur Afni explained.

At the venue, enthusiasm for the job fair was felt not only by young graduates but also by mature job seekers. One such individual is Rahman Fajar (45), a resident who travelled via public transport and on foot from the Srengseng Urban Forest area to the event location.

Carrying application documents and a curriculum vitae (CV), Rahman arrived with the hope of re-entering the workforce after being sidelined for several years due to an accident. “I am here to apply for a job. I am optimistic that I can find work,” said Rahman.

Rahman shared that he previously worked as a fuel attendant at a petrol station before an accident occurred around 2014 or 2015. Although he managed to persevere, he eventually stopped working in 2017 and has since been struggling to find permanent employment. During this period, Rahman has been active in assisting with administrative tasks at his local prayer room (musala).

This experience has motivated him to target administrative or finance positions at this job fair. “Currently, I want to apply as an admin. My skills are limited to computer typing, Microsoft Word, and Excel. If there is a request for finance roles, I am ready,” he revealed.

Despite recognising that his age and physical condition following the accident present challenges, Rahman, who currently lives with his sibling, remains hopeful that a company will be willing to offer him a job opportunity. “My hope is to achieve a result and secure employment,” said Rahman.
