3.4 Million Eid Train Tickets Already Sold

PT Kereta Api (Persero) has sold 3,483,469 long-distance and local train tickets, or 77.4% of the total 4,498,696 seats available for the Eid transportation period for departures from 11 March to 1 April 2026. This sales figure was recorded up to 10:00 WIB today.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT KAI (Persero), Anne Purba, stated that there are still 1,015,227 tickets available for purchase to various routes. “The trend of mudik travel by train continues to strengthen since mid-March,” she said in a written statement on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

For long-distance train services, sales have reached 3,141,282 tickets, or 87.9% of the total 3,571,760 seats provided. There are still 430,478 tickets available that the public can book for mudik or return trips.

Meanwhile, for local train services, sales stand at 342,187 tickets, or 36.9% of the total 926,936 seats available. There are still 584,749 seats that prospective passengers can purchase.

According to Anne, local train ticket sales are expected to rise closer to the departure dates, as most services can only be booked starting from H-7.

“With the availability of substantial capacity, KAI invites the public to plan their Eid travels promptly to ensure a more comfortable, smooth, and enjoyable mudik with the train,” she said.

During the first seven days of the Eid transportation period, from 11-17 March 2026, long-distance train services have accommodated 1,125,378 passengers across various routes on Java and Sumatra. Today, passenger movement is estimated to remain high. Up to this morning, there were around 188,678 long-distance train customers scheduled to travel, with a temporary occupancy rate of 115.4%.

According to KAI data, trains with high demand during the 2026 Eid transportation period include KA Airlangga, KA Joglosemarkerto, KA Sri Tanjung, KA Bengawan, KA Kahuripan, and KA Rajabasa.
