The Child Protection Agency (LPA) in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), disclosed that 3,286 teenagers in the region became pregnant throughout 2025. Of this number, the highest cases were recorded in Central Lombok with 913 teenage pregnancies.

The data is based on records from the NTB Provincial Health Office regarding teenage pregnancies across various districts and cities.

“Looking at the case data, Central Lombok is the worst. In the worst sense that in other areas the teenage pregnancy figures tend to decline, but Central Lombok is the only region where it actually increased,” said Joko Jumadi, Head of the Mataram City Child Protection Agency, when confirmed on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

According to data from the NTB Provincial Health Office, total teenage pregnancies throughout 2025 reached 3,286 out of a target of 424,253 young women.

The breakdown by district is as follows: West Lombok 550 teenagers, Central Lombok 913 teenagers, East Lombok 639 teenagers, Sumbawa 243 teenagers, Dompu 259 teenagers, Bima 286 teenagers, West Sumbawa 66 teenagers, North Lombok 120 teenagers, Mataram City 120 teenagers, and Bima City 90 teenagers.

The average age of pregnant teenagers in Central Lombok and East Lombok was below 19 years old. Throughout 2025, Central Lombok was the region with the highest number of teenage pregnancies, reaching 913 cases.

Data from the NTB Provincial Health Office also recorded the number of teenagers who gave birth throughout 2025.

Central Lombok again ranked first with the number of teenage deliveries reaching 591 persons. Followed by East Lombok with 376 teenagers, West Lombok 233 teenagers, Sumbawa 179 teenagers, Bima 167 teenagers, Dompu 143 teenagers, North Lombok 109 teenagers, Bima City 69 teenagers, West Sumbawa 41 teenagers, and Mataram City 5 teenagers.

Joko assessed that the prevalence of early marriage cases was one of the factors driving the high teenage pregnancy rate, particularly in Central Lombok.

“We do not see any action from the Central Lombok Regional Government. We do not see any serious effort from the local government regarding child marriage cases. The teenage pregnancy rate in East Lombok has declined, from around 700 cases to 639 cases in 2025. But in Central Lombok it has actually increased,” Joko explained.
