Kupang (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police stated that it has deployed 3,227 combined personnel to secure Easter celebrations in various areas of NTT.

NTT Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Baskoro Tri Prabowo in Kupang on Tuesday said that the personnel consist of 1,319 from Polri and 1,908 from TNI and related agencies.

“These thousands of personnel will be focused on securing 1,113 churches throughout NTT, including 432 priority churches assessed to have higher vulnerability levels and larger congregations,” he said after leading the troop deployment for Operation Semana Santa Turangga 2026.

Operation Semana Santa Turangga 2026 will be held for 15 days from 1 April to 15 April 2026.

He explained that in this operation, Polda NTT along with its district police units will establish 85 posts spread across various areas. These posts consist of 38 security posts, 26 service posts, and 21 integrated posts to support the smooth implementation of security and services to the public.

In the police chief’s directive read by the Deputy Police Chief, all personnel are urged to map potential vulnerabilities in the field early, so that preventive measures can be taken maximally.

“Conduct vulnerability mapping in every area, so that every potential disruption can be anticipated as early as possible. The presence of personnel must provide a sense of security for the community carrying out worship,” the Deputy Police Chief emphasised.

He added that security will be focused on two main Easter agendas, namely the holding of masses in churches and religious procession or parade activities outside churches that usually involve many people.

The Deputy Police Chief also asked all personnel to increase patrols, especially in vulnerable areas and at certain times that have the potential for security disruptions.

In addition, synergy with religious leaders, community figures, and self-security is deemed very important to keep the situation conducive during the Easter series.

Potential social conflicts, conventional crimes, and natural disaster threats are also concerns in this year’s operation implementation. Therefore, all personnel are asked to always be alert and responsive to every situational development.

Not only on land, security is also focused on sea procession activities that are a tradition in several NTT areas.

“Avoid sea accidents during processions. Ensure all vessels meet SOP worthiness standards and do not exceed load capacity,” the Deputy Police Chief stressed.

He also reminded all personnel to carry out their duties professionally, humanely, and with full responsibility, while continuing to strengthen synergy between TNI, Polri, local government, and all stakeholders.
