3,162 Hafidz Al-Qur'an Inaugurated in Lamongan

A total of 3,162 hafidz and hafidzah in Lamongan Regency, East Java, were inaugurated with the mumtaz (perfect) predicate at the Lamongan town square on Wednesday. The thousands of hafidz also received certificates for passing the tahfidz exam from Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi. Yuhronur said that Lamongan’s achievement in nurturing a Qur’anic generation is a long-term investment, particularly in preparing superior human resources with strong character and moral resilience. Amid digital transformation, the development of artificial intelligence, and increasingly dynamic global competition, he said, a progressive region is one that is able to prepare a generation that is intellectually smart and firm in values and ethics. This Qur’anic movement will be an important part of the region’s priority programmes, included in the Lamongan Nyantri and Perintis initiatives. He explained that sustainable regional development requires a balance between physical development and human development. The Lamongan Regency Government is grateful to have a young generation that continues to cultivate a culture of learning, strengthen character, and uphold noble values as the foundation of social life. This is reflected in Lamongan’s social piety index score of 89.88. He added that the movement must continue to be developed as an adaptive, innovative, and relevant learning ecosystem by utilising digital technology, strengthening literacy culture, and expanding collaboration to prepare a generation capable of answering future challenges. He emphasised that the inaugurated hafidz and hafidzah are a great hope for Lamongan, a strategic regional asset that will play an important role in preparing future leadership and driving the realisation of an advanced, harmonious, and competitive Lamongan. On the same occasion, the General Chairman of LPTQ Lamongan, Moh. Nalikan, stated that the Lamongan Qur’an Memorisation Movement is an effort by the Lamongan Regency Government together with LPTQ to foster young people’s love for the Al-Qur’an through a culture of reading, studying, understanding, memorising, and implementing its teachings. The inauguration of hafidz and hafidzah for 2026 was held after participants underwent tahfidz exams from January to April 2026, with 7,890 children participating and 6,168 declared to have passed according to the established standards. From those who passed, 3,162 participants were selected for achieving very good scores or the mumtaz category, including 64 children who achieved mumtaz with scores between 98 and 100.
