3,161 Personnel Deployed to Secure Execution of Hotel Sultan Eviction
A combined force of 3,161 personnel has been deployed to secure the execution of the eviction order for Blok 15 of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, formerly the Hotel Sultan, scheduled for today, Thursday (18/6). The operation aims to ensure the repossession of the state-owned land proceeds without incident.
Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, confirmed that thousands of personnel have been stationed at strategic points around the Senayan area. “For the security of the ex-Hotel Sultan execution, the number of security personnel is 3,161,” Erlyn stated in an official release in Jakarta. The security detail comprises joint elements from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and the DKI Jakarta Regional Government.
Prior to the execution, the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK) had been making intensive preparations since Monday (15/6). Head of the Blok 15 GBK Transition Team, Hendry Arisandi, said his party had also readied 300 internal personnel from PPKGBK, the Ministry of State Secretariat, the legal team, and the Public Appraisal Service Office (KJPP). Technical coordination also involved supporting agencies such as Telkom and the state electricity company PLN to ensure a smooth asset transition. “We hope the execution of Blok 15 GBK, the former Hotel Sultan, can proceed smoothly, orderly, and safely, without causing losses to any party,” Hendry emphasised.
The execution follows the ruling of the Central Jakarta District Court Number 208/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst dated 28 November 2025. The court rejected a lawsuit by PT Indobuildco and declared that the state, through Land Management Rights (HPL) Number 1/Gelora, is the rightful owner of the area. The panel of judges ruled that the Building Use Rights (HGB) for Hotel Sultan had been legally abolished since 2023. Consequently, PT Indobuildco is obliged to vacate the entire area, including the land and buildings on it. The ruling is uitvoerbaar bij voorraad, meaning it can be executed immediately despite any potential further legal appeals. With this execution, the government, via PPKGBK, will take full control of the strategic state asset for the future development of the Gelora Bung Karno complex.
