JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that 3,135 Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperatives have received operational vehicles. Each cooperative receives one truck and one pickup.

The vehicles are provided after the physical construction of the cooperatives is completed. The facilities are deemed ready for operational use.

“Already thousands (of vehicles), yesterday distributed to the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives, and they seem quite adequate and can be used,” Ferry said at the Ministry of Cooperatives office in Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

The procurement includes 35,000 units of 4x4 pickups from Mahindra & Mahindra. In addition, there are 35,000 units of 4x4 pickups and 35,000 six-wheeled trucks from Tata Motors.

Ferry mentioned that around 34,000 cooperatives are still in the construction phase. Completion is targeted within the next one to two months.

Vehicle distribution is carried out in stages. Each cooperative that has been completed will immediately be equipped with operational facilities.

“This is a total of 105,000 (vehicles), but they are given gradually; as soon as a Merah Putih Village Cooperative is completed, with the physical building, warehouse, and supporting equipment, it is directly equipped with trucks and pickups,” Ferry said.

The price of 4x4 pickups in the domestic market is considered high. Products from India offer lower prices.

“First, the issue of price. Products available, whether from wherever supplying the Indonesian market, if 4x4, are very expensive,” he explained.

This step is said to save the state budget. The estimated savings value reaches Rp 46.5 trillion.

“So by taking from India, it becomes a middle path. It’s fair for us to use the state budget wisely. Because we buy at a price almost half cheaper than the products available in the Indonesian market,” he clarified.
