3.1 Million Vehicles Enter Jakarta, Post-Lebaran Return Flow Continues Until H+9

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The post-Lebaran return flow in 2026 is still pouring heavily towards Jakarta. By H+9 Idul Fitri, the number of vehicles returning to the Jabotabek area has exceeded 3.1 million units, approaching the total projection estimated for the mudik and return period this year.

The President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A. Purwantono, stated that this figure is the cumulative traffic from four main toll gates, namely Cikampek Utama, Kalihurip Utama, Cikupa, and Ciawi, during the period of 11–30 March 2026.

“Cumulatively, the 3.1 million vehicles returning to the Jabotabek area represent 93.3 percent of the total projection of 3.39 million vehicles expected to return to the Jabotabek area during the period of 11–31 March 2026,” Rivan said in an official statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

“For the distribution of return traffic to Jabotabek from three directions, with the majority amounting to 1.5 million vehicles (47.5 percent) from the east (Trans Java and Bandung),” Rivan added.

Meanwhile, from the west or Merak direction, 928,370 vehicles were recorded, or 29.3 percent, and from the south or Puncak direction, 733,641 vehicles, or 23.2 percent.

From the west, vehicles entering through the Cikupa Toll Gate reached 928,370 units, an increase of 1.0 percent compared to normal conditions. From the south via the Ciawi Toll Gate, 733,641 vehicles were recorded, up 3.2 percent.

On H+9 Idul Fitri 1447 H/2026 alone, the volume of vehicles returning to Jabotabek reached 176,740 units, an increase of 36.3 percent compared to normal traffic of 129,695 vehicles.

The breakdown shows 86,733 vehicles from the east, up 57.8 percent compared to normal conditions, 55,713 vehicles from the west, up 28.74 percent, and 34,294 vehicles from the south, up 9 percent.

“With this data, the return flow movement will continue until H+10 Lebaran 2026 or Tuesday, 31 March 2026, although with volumes tending to decrease,” he said.

He advised road users to continue paying attention to travel readiness.

“We advise road users to ensure travel readiness, including ensuring the condition of the driver and vehicle is in prime condition and roadworthy,” he emphasised.
