As many as 3,019 inmates in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) have received special remission, or sentence reductions, for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. Twelve of them have been immediately released.

The Head of the NTB Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Kakanwil Ditjenpas), Anak Agung Gde Krisna, stated that the inmates who are now breathing free air come from four correctional institutions.

“The inmates who are now breathing free air come from Lombok Barat Prison with six people, Dompu Prison with three people, Central Lombok Open Prison with two people, and LPKA (Special Child Development Institution) Central Lombok with one person,” said Agung Krisna on Friday (20/3/2026).

Meanwhile, other inmates received varying reductions in their detention periods, ranging from 15 days to two months. The details are as follows: 526 inmates received a 15-day reduction, 2,145 inmates had one month deducted, 274 inmates had one month and 15 days deducted, and 84 inmates had two months deducted.

“In terms of composition, the recipients of remission consist of 1,378 general criminal offenders and 1,641 special criminal offenders, dominated by narcotics cases with 1,562 people,” explained Agung Krisna.

Lombok Barat Prison contributed the most inmates receiving remission, with 1,149 people. This was followed by Sumbawa Besar Prison with 563 inmates, Dompu Prison with 370 inmates, and Selong Prison with 349 inmates.

“Inmates from Praya Detention Centre, Raba Bima Detention Centre, LPKA Central Lombok, Mataram Women’s Prison, and Central Lombok Open Prison also received remission rights,” said Agung Krisna.

Agung Krisna hopes that the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah can serve as a turning point for all inmates and wards to remain disciplined in following the development programmes.

“The granting of remission is expected to strengthen family bonds between inmates and their families, as well as serve as moral provision to undergo the remaining sentence period with full optimism,” said Agung Krisna.
