3,000 cheap essential goods packages in West Jakarta sold out amid public rush
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 3,000 packages of discounted essential goods in Kapuk Village, Cengkareng, and Tanah Sereal Village, Tambora, West Jakarta, have been completely sold out following a rush by residents.
“West Jakarta received two distribution points, with 1,500 packages at Kapuk Village and 1,500 packages at Tanah Sereal Village,” said West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Each essential goods package consisted of one kilogramme of meat, one kg of potatoes, two kg of rice, and one kg of flour with a regular value of Rp190,000, sold at Rp100,000.
Iin stated that the discounted essential goods bazaar was organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) DKI Jakarta as part of Ramadan activities.
“We appreciate Kadin DKI Jakarta’s efforts. Hopefully, this affordable essential goods activity can ease the burden on residents in meeting their needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” she said.
According to her, uncertain global economic conditions have impacted all aspects of people’s livelihoods. Nevertheless, the city administration remains committed to continuing efforts to boost the local economy, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and young entrepreneurs to help them advance.
Meanwhile, Yohannes Agustino Masteriano, Deputy Chair of the Labour, Education and Training Division of Kadin West Jakarta, stated that Kadin DKI Jakarta organised the Discounted Bazaar simultaneously across Jakarta.
Yohannes stressed that Kadin was assisting the West Jakarta City Government in providing public services ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
“We hope that what business people do, both from Kadin DKI Jakarta together with the West Jakarta City Government, will benefit the community,” he added.
