292 DPR Members Attend Opening of Session Period, Appoint Replacement for Adies Kadir

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held the opening of the fifth session period for the 2025-2026 legislative year. The opening session was attended by 292 members of the house.

The DPR’s opening plenary took place in the Plenary Hall at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026). The plenary was chaired by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, accompanied by Deputy Speakers Saan Mustopa and Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal.

“Praise and gratitude we offer to Almighty God, the Most Gracious and Merciful, who has bestowed His mercy and grace upon us, allowing us to attend the DPR RI plenary meeting today in good health,” said Puan during the plenary.

The opening plenary was attended by 292 members of the house. Puan stated that the quorum had been met, and the session was open to the public.

“According to records from the DPR RI General Secretariat, the attendance list at the start of today’s DPR RI plenary meeting has been signed by 292 members from all factions,” said Puan.

“Therefore, quorum has been achieved. With the grace of Allah, the Most Gracious and Merciful, we, as the house leadership, hereby open the 18th plenary meeting of the fifth session period of the 2025-2026 legislative year, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, and declare it open and accessible to the public,” she continued.

Puan also stated that the DPR had received a letter regarding the replacement of former Deputy Speaker Adies Kadir, who has been appointed as a Constitutional Court judge. Adies’s mid-term replacement (PAW) is Adela Kanasya Adies.

“Ms Adela Kanasya Adies from the Golkar Party faction in the East Java I electoral district replaces Mr Adies Kadir,” revealed Puan.
