Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs continues to strengthen national waqf governance through the acceleration of waqf land certification, with 287,162 waqf land plots recorded as certified by April 2026, covering a total area of 276,106,802 square metres.

Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), Abu Rokhmad, stated that this achievement represents a significant milestone in bolstering the protection of religious assets, as well as an indicator of successful inter-ministerial collaboration.

“This is not merely an administrative accomplishment, but a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence in safeguarding the community’s waqf assets. The synergy established between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency has proven effective in significantly accelerating the certification process,” said Abu Rokhmad in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, the certification of hundreds of thousands of waqf land plots reflects a vast economic and social strength.

With an area spanning hundreds of millions of square metres, waqf holds strategic potential to support community-based national development, from education and health services to community economic empowerment.

Abu Rokhmad also called on the public to promptly register and certify their waqf lands to ensure legal certainty and avoid potential future conflicts.

“We urge the entire community to register their waqf immediately. Certification is a crucial step to ensure the security, sustainability, and optimal utilisation of waqf benefits for future generations,” he said.

The waqf land certification acceleration programme is a strategic initiative resulting from collaboration between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency.

This programme is designed to expedite the legalisation of waqf assets through data integration, simplified procedures, and active assistance to nazirs and the community. This approach not only increases the number of certifications but also strengthens data accuracy and the quality of national waqf governance.
