287,000 Mudik Travellers Cross to Sumatra via Three Banten Ports
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry reports that 287,802 people have crossed to Sumatra during the Eid mudik period through three Banten ports. This figure represents an increase compared to the same period last year.
Three ports are currently being used for the Eid mudik season: Merak Port, Ciwandan, and BBJ Bojonegara. The travellers will cross to Sumatra.
“From H-10 to H-6, 287,802 people were recorded, representing an 8.9% increase compared to 264,174 people during the same period last year,” stated a press release from ASDP on Monday (16 March 2026).
A total of 68,816 vehicles had crossed by Sunday (15 March). This figure increased 13.8% compared to 60,452 vehicles during the same period last year.
ASDP recorded that during Sunday or H-6, 134 trips were in operation. A total of 88,791 people crossed, representing a 44.7% increase compared to 61,383 people during the same period last year.
Two-wheeled vehicles that crossed from Ciwandan Port on H-6 reached 5,996 units, up 89.7% compared to 3,161 units last year.
Meanwhile, four-wheeled vehicles that crossed at Merak Port reached 10,705 units, up 27.2% compared to 8,413 units during the same period last year.
Trucks that crossed from Ciwandan and BBJ Bojonegara totalled 2,237 units, up 14.2% compared to 1,958 units during the same period last year.
Buses that crossed from Merak totalled 852 units, up 61.7% compared to 527 units during the same period last year.
“The total number of vehicles recorded crossing from Java to Sumatra from Merak Port, Ciwandan, and BBJ Bojonegara on H-6 was 19,790 units, up 40.8% compared to 14,059 units during the same period last year,” the statement added.
