The fire that struck dozens of warehouses in the Kosambi Permai Warehouse Area, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, was finally extinguished after 10 hours of firefighting efforts on Wednesday (16/9) night. In total, 28 warehouses have been burnt to the ground.

It is reported that the firefighting process for the dozens of warehouses lasted from Wednesday afternoon, specifically from 13:00 WIB to 23:00 WIB.

The Commander of the Kosambi Fire Station, BPBD Tangerang Regency, Husni, stated that his team is still conducting an inventory to determine the exact number of warehouses affected by the fire.

“So far, 28 warehouses have been recorded. However, to be certain, I need to conduct an inventory together with the area management,” said Husni on Thursday (17/9).

Based on preliminary data, the 28 burnt warehouses consist of 14 contractor logistics warehouses, 8 cold storage warehouses, and 6 empty warehouses. Additionally, several spring bed warehouses were also caught in the fire, though the exact number is not yet known.

According to the chronology provided by the BPBD, the fire is suspected to have originated from the rear area of a spring bed warehouse. The incident occurred during the employees’ break time at approximately 12:45 WIB. The appearance of the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

“A witness saw the fire and noticed it growing larger, and immediately shouted for the employees in the office to evacuate and save themselves,” Husni explained.

At approximately 13:00 WIB, the fire report was received by firefighters. A total of 18 firefighting units from the BPBD, area management, Jakarta Fire Department, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Authority, and PIK were deployed to the location.

“Meanwhile, 80 joint personnel were involved in the firefighting process,” Husni clarified.

Previously, the fire struck dozens of warehouses in the Kosambi Permai Warehouse Area, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Wednesday (16/9) afternoon.

The BPBD stated that the fire was suspected to be caused by an electrical short circuit in a spring bed storage warehouse. Nevertheless, the exact cause of the fire is still being investigated by the relevant authorities.
